  Once, there lived a great devotee of Lord Shiva known as Lomash Muni. He had several disciples. One among them, was very naughty and he did not pay heed to the words of his Guru. That particular disciple always ill-treated Lomash Muni and insulted him. Angered by this, Lord Shiva himself cursed that disciple to take a thousand births in the lowest possible forms. Lomash Muni felt very bad for his disciple and pleaded with Lord Shiva to take back his curse. He sang some hymns, and Lord Shiva, pleased with the Muni gave him a boon. As per Lomash Muni's request, Lord Shiva said that, even in the lowest of the birth he takes, the disciple will always remember Lord Ram. And so, the disciple immediately took the form of a crow !   What does Atmaram stand for?  ATMA - “SOUL” RAM - “LORD” The name Atmaram is of Indian (Sanskrit) origin and means "Atma means soul and Ram means Lord. Combined means the one who is Lord of his own soul." The Aatmaram is a piece of bone which is a part of the ribcage closest to the heart. In Hindu religion, it is said here, that this is the place where the soul resides. Although, the soul is said to be in the entire body but it is said that this is the centre point. It is a small bone, nearly perfect model of a person, called Atma-Ram — like arms, legs, head and other parts of the body. Mostly said to have found post cremation process. It looks like a person in a yogic sitting position with crossed legs and hands and fingers in a mudra.This atmaram is supposed to signify the greatness and the purity of the person.
