That particular disciple always ill-treated Lomash Muni and insulted him. Angered by this, Lord Shiva himself cursed that disciple to take a thousand births in the lowest possible forms. Lomash Muni felt very bad for his disciple and pleaded with Lord Shiva to take back his curse. He sang some hymns, and Lord Shiva, pleased with the Muni gave him a boon. As per Lomash Muni's request, Lord Shiva said that, even in the lowest of the birth he takes, the disciple will always remember Lord Ram. And so, the disciple immediately took the form of a crow ! Now you know why he got the name - KakBhushundi. And as a crow lived off cadavers that he found in the forest.
